High School Mission Trip

Students completing 9th-12th grade are invited to join us for this life-changing week in Denver, CO as we partner with YouthWorks, a mission trip organization. If you’ve ever been to a Summer camp, you know to expect group bonding and to see God move over a week like this. One of the coolest things about a mission trip like this is that you get to actively serve Jesus and use the gifts He’s given you to build his kingdom here on earth!

*This trip is limited to 15 students.

$450 Total Cost | $100 Deposit at Registration | Fundraising Resources Provided

Registration has closed - if your student is still interested, contact Jonas

FAQs

Why go on the High School Mission Trip?

Our mission statement as a Youth Ministry is, “SBYth exists to guide students from Crowd to Core”

Our goal is to help as many students as possible reach a point of spiritual maturity where they know how God has gifted them and are eager to use those gifts to serve God. These are “Core” students.

This mission trip is an incredible opportunity for students to step out of their comfort zone in faith.

You can expect students who go on this trip to form deep relationships with each other and the adult leaders and to have their eyes opened to how God can work through them to make a difference in the world.

Who can go?

Current 9th-12th graders

When are we going?

June 5th-10th

Where are we going?

Denver, Colorado

How will we get there?

We’ll drive a couple of 12 or 15 passenger vans.

What will our lodging be like?

We will most likely be staying somewhere like a local church or on a campus. Closer to the trip we will know the exact location.

We’ll be prepared to rough it a bit, likely sleeping on the floor with air mattresses and/or sleeping bags.

Depending on the layout of the building, we’ll either have a girls room and a guys room or if we’re somewhere with dorms we’ll split into those by genders as well.

What will we do?

We are going through YouthWorks and they’ve got partnerships with all kinds of charitable organizations. It’s common for groups to put on a vacation bible school at a local church, take on a service project to help someone in need, or serve at something like a food shelter.

We’ll find out exactly what we’ll be doing the week of the trip. You can check out what our daily schedule will look like here

Will my child be safe?

Yes! Check out some of the safety measures in place for the trip:

  • We’ll sleep in a secure facility and serve in areas where YouthWorks has formed relationships and are know and loved

  • Three-Together Rule: All participants are required to travel in groups of at least three including one adult leader

  • Every adult there, whether staff or volunteer, will have had to clear a background check

  • Every YouthWorks staff member is CPR and First Aid certified

  • In case of emergency, part of the participant form everybody will have to fill out is sufficient for entry into any U.S. Emergency Room

How much does it cost?

The total cost is $450. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at sign-up and the goal is that’s all you’ll have to pay!

We highly encourage students to send out support letters and we’ll provide a “how to” guide for writing these letters. We’ll also provide other fundraising opportunities in the months ahead.

However, if a student is unable to fundraise the remaining $350, the family will ultimately be responsible for paying whatever the difference is.

Are cell phones allowed?

Yes, cellphones are allowed, but they are discouraged. Most of the day students will not be allowed to use them (especially at worksites).

There will be a couple hours of free time each evening that they could use their phones.

Some adult leader phones will be available for us if parents or students want to check in with each other throughout the week.

Ultimately, we’d rather students take full advantage of the week by unplugging and leaving their devices at home, but we will honor each family’s choice.
